Save the Marine Mammal Protection Act!

Save the Marine Mammal Protection Act!

We need you to urgently email your senators and ask them to keep the Marine Mammal Protection Act in place and adequately funded.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the House Committee on Natural Resources will hold an oversight hearing titled “Evaluating the Implementation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Endangered Species Act.” These Acts are essential to protect the vulnerable marine life who help to keep our ocean, and our planet, healthy. Seals are among the species on the chopping block with calls to end rescue and start culls.

Please email today, and tomorrow, and every day until the hearing to give a voice to the voiceless.

Email your Representative about keeping the Marine Mammal Protection Act intact!

The ask is simple -

Please email your Representative (no matter what state you live in) using the template below.

"I’m emailing you to demand your support to keep the Marine Mammal Protection act in place. The MMPA has prevented the loss of any marine mammal population off United States, even as human use of the ocean has increased. But the challenges posed by new ocean industries and large-scale changes in ocean ecosystems has put America’s marine mammals at greater risk—and underscores the need for a robust Act.

  • Whales and other marine mammals are of immense cultural importance.
  • Marine mammals are integral to ocean health.
  • America’s marine mammals are the basis for the world’s largest whale-watching industry. In 2008, U.S. companies generated more than $500 million in direct ticket sales and nearly $1 billion in coastal tourism by conservative estimates; and the industry has grown substantially.

I urge you to stand up for the environment and well-being of everyday Americans. Thank you for your time!".
